Needs Improvement:
The work shown below is of a lower level ESL students who struggles consistently in all areas. She has a lot of trouble with the language barrier in the classroom and this reflects in her work. I work with her everyday on learning the language and she has made small progress but we have a long way to go. How do we use decimals in everyday lives?
This student had a lot of trouble developing her ideas into words. She talked about how she sees decimals in her textbook and in school. She had trouble figuring out how she uses decimals in her everyday life. She had trouble relating to this concept and showed very little mathematical reasoning. |

This student scored very highly on his assignments because he showed effective mathematical reasoning, completed the assignment, worked well with his peers, and showed complete understanding of the mathematical concepts. |

She had a very hard time with the mathematical concepts, she had trouble expressing her ideas through writing, and had a little trouble working in groups with her peers because of the language barrier. |
