Exemplary Work
This student showed exemplary work during this lesson. She made sure to add extra details while writing and also wrote very neatly and clearly. She also included detailed pictures to help readers visualize her day in the park.
Average Work
This student completed average work for a first grade student in this class. He was trying to tell a story about how he went to Party City to buy a costume. He did a good job trying to add details and dialogue to his story. However, he had a lot of trouble stretching out his words and making sure that his beginning and end letters were the correct letter sounds.
Needs Improvement
This student needs a lot of extra help and support for reading and writing. She has a lot of trouble with the letter sounds and also has trouble formulating words. This student was part of my small group re-teach mini-lesson on adding details. Once I worked with her and gave her that little push that she needed, she was able to tell me the details she was writing about. On page 2 she told me that she drank a delicious, tall glass of cold lemonade with her grandma. Although it doesn't say that, her thinking process was the right track.
